This book serves as an introduction to the versatility of the author, tracing his progression from writing clinical reports and magazine articles, through a series of sexuality self-help books (two of which were chosen for inclusion in the Venus Book Club selection), and on to a clinical manual used for the teaching of sex therapy at a graduate school level.
Bob became less "professional" as he began writing limericks, mostly in the tradition of being bawdy and politically incorrect. An erotic novel followed, also chosen for the Venus Book Club catalog. Erotic short stories and erotic poetry followed.
Following a poetry weekend at the 17th Annual Iowa Summer Writing Festival, sponsored by the Univerisity of Iowa, Bob's poetry went in a variety of new directions. Birch Barks contains examples of both metered and free verse. There are examples of sonnets and ballads. The sampling contains poems both humorous and serious, both naughty and nice.
